In the past 2 months, I’ve been dedicating most of my mornings to meditation. I’ve only recently really come to discover how awesome it is to sit still for 10 minutes for myself each day. I’ve been using this app called Headspace, which features voice guidance by a celibate guru of sorts (who has an extraordinary story of his own) with a soothing British accent.
At first, I just thought I’d give it a try, as I try most things at least once. But after doing this continually for weeks, I’ve found that it really does change the frame of mind throughout the day. It’s a workout for the mind in a world where notifications and FOMO on social media sabotage our attention, not to mention the countless obligations throughout the day. Meditation has allowed me to keep a certain calm throughout the day, and be more present in all the little things. It’s definitely allowed me to approach daily obstacles and goals with a steady, deliberate calm.
I highly recommend it- you might be pleasantly surprised.
